Barry McGee for Livestrong

barryThe inimitable Barry McGee created this bike adorned with his signature characters for Lance Armstrong to ride in the Tour of California this year. A fan of oldschool fixed gear bike styling, McGee went to great lengths to distress this bike to make it look like a vintage metal bike that’s been “ridden hard and left out in the rain”. Of course competition bikes are now made of spaceage carbon fiber and are very sleek and all that, making this a unique look for the tour. Definitely a cool ride, and the best part is you wouldn’t have to lock it up because it looks like a rusted old junker.

This bike is a part of the “Stages” art campaign being put together in support of Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation, including work from other notable artists (KAWS, Fairey and others) handpicked by Armstrong. For more information please visit: The Livestrong Blog
