Aaron Draplin is the Man.
Somehow over the past few years Aaron Draplin (Draplin Design Co.) has become my hero. His all-American work ethic and salt of the earth design philosophies are what I strive toward in my profession. So what if he uses Trade Gothic and Futura Bold too much…it looks tight. Whatever. He has fun and loves what he does and it’s apparent in everything he does.
If you’re a designer, expecially a young designer, I recommend you listen to this interview with Draplin on Read Between the Leading. Draplin pretty much spins his entire life story and imparts the attitude and work ethic which he’s developed over the years. Listen to him talk about how he kerns his car in the merge lane and how he sees grids everywhere. An inspirational and encouraging listen for any graphic designer. Highly recommended that you spend an hour with Mr. Draplin.

Damn epic interview for sure. Draplin certainly drips passion for his profession and the industry. Definitely a lot of respect for some one who can drop all the pretense of being an ártíst and just get down to the grit of giving it your all.
Seems the designers with the least attitude are often producing the best work.
