Starting Pitcher: You, Sucka!!
Fantastic animated piece, the wild story of Dock Ellis and the LSD No-No. Really a landmark event in the history of drugs and baseball (and their long sordid relationship): Ellis pitched a no-hitter on June 12, 1970 (while high on acid) versus the Padres. Brought to you by No Mas and artist James Blagden. Enjoy!
Ron English: Art Basel Miami
I’ve long been a fan of Pablo Picasso’s epic painting Guernica, so I was quite impressed with Ron English’s tribute mural recently completed at Art Basel Miami (The world’s largest site-specific street level mural installation). Check it out in it’s entirety here. For more on Art Basel Miami, check out this roundup on Fecal Face.
A Love Letter For You
Stephen “Espo” Powers has struck again, and with one of the most ambitious art projects of the year to be sure. Love Letter is a series of over 50 murals completed by the artist (with the aide of other artists) in partnership with the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, in what has been described [...]
Blu + David Ellis
If you haven’t seen any of the animated time lapse mural pieces by Blu it’s time you check his work out. Amazing. Here he teams up with another great artist, David Ellis for a new piece. Enjoy: For more Blu animation check out his YouTube page.
Mike Giant is a Beast.
One of my favorites in action. It should be noted that’s all freehand with a Sharpie… that’s how he rolls! No one draws a better snake, no one. Enjoy! For more info visit: mikegiant.com or rebel8.com
Calgary Graffiti Project Bombs
A graffiti mural was set to liven up Shaw Millenium Park, and mentor young artists over the next few months. Instead it’s become a giant PR nightmare for the City of Calgary, who supplied that paint (but not the proper supervision and guidelines) that was subsequently used to vandalize most of the park. Downtown Alderman [...]
Smile On Your Brother
There’s a fantastic looking skateboard art show travelling across Canada right now (Calgary September 4-6 at Livestock) called “Smile On Your Brother”. Conceived by Mike Giles and Annie Lam and co-curated by Bob Kronbauer of www.clubmumble.com fame, “Smile On Your Brother” , is an art show centered around the original shape of skateboards when they [...]
